Privacy Policy
ParamJyotishi (“the App,” “we,” “us”) is a free Vedic astrology application for Android. This policy explains what information the App collects, why, how it's stored, and what choices you have. We wrote it in plain language on purpose — astrology is personal, and so is your data.

1. Summary
- ParamJyotishi is free forever — no payments, no in-app purchases, no astrologer marketplace.
- The astrology engine (chart calculation) runs entirely on your device, offline.
- You can use the App fully for 2 days without creating an account.
- Starting on day 3, continuing to use the App requires signing up with your email, name, and birth details.
- Your email, name, and birth details are stored on our server, visible to us through an internal admin panel — used to operate the service, not to sell your data.
- Community rooms and chat messages are automatically screened for profanity before storage; flagged messages are reviewed by a human moderator.
2. Information we collect
2.1 At signup: email address, name, birth details (date, time, place of birth), gender.
2.2 Automatically: device identifier (trial enforcement), FCM push token, app locale, basic usage/activity data.
2.3 Every chart you cast: the computed birth details are synced to our server. The calculation itself always happens on-device.
2.4 Community chat and rooms: messages you send are stored after passing an automated profanity filter; a human moderator reviews only flagged or reported messages.
2.5 What we do NOT collect: no payment information; no in-app advertising SDK tracking you across other apps [PLACEHOLDER — confirm before publishing].
3. How we use your information
- To operate your account and continued free use after the trial.
- To display your astrological readings (calculation stays on-device).
- To send notifications via Firebase Cloud Messaging — disable anytime in device settings.
- To operate community rooms and chat, including moderation.
- To understand aggregate usage (installs, signups, language distribution) to improve the App.
- To enforce the fair-use trial period and prevent abuse.
We do not use your birth details or chat content to train any third-party AI model, and we do not sell your personal information.
4. Where your data is stored
Your account data is stored on a server we operate, hosted on infrastructure located at [PLACEHOLDER — confirm hosting location/jurisdiction], in a PostgreSQL database accessed only through our authenticated backend API and internal admin panel. We take reasonable technical measures to protect stored data, but no method of storage or transmission is 100% secure.
5. Push notifications
We use Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) to deliver notifications, which requires storing a device-specific token. Disable notifications anytime in device settings without affecting the rest of the App.
6. Community moderation
Messages are automatically screened for profanity across all supported languages before storage or display. Depending on the result, a message may be shown as-is, masked, or blocked and flagged for human review. Repeatedly flagged accounts may be suspended.
7. Who can see your data
Your account information is visible to the App owner and authorized administrators through an internal admin panel used to operate the service. We do not sell this data or share it with third-party advertisers or data brokers, except where required by law or to protect rights, property, or safety.
8. Children's data
ParamJyotishi is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect birth details or other personal data from children under [PLACEHOLDER — applicable age threshold; the DPDP Act defines a “child” as under 18 with special consent requirements — counsel must confirm]. This is flagged as an open legal question, not a resolved policy.
9. Your choices and rights
- Access and correction: review/update your details from within the App [PLACEHOLDER — confirm built; otherwise contact us].
- Deletion: request account deletion by contacting [PLACEHOLDER — support/privacy email]. Deleted within [PLACEHOLDER — timeframe] except where legally required to retain.
- Notification opt-out: disable push notifications in device settings.
- India DPDP Act rights: access, correct, and erase your personal data, and withdraw consent [PLACEHOLDER — counsel to confirm mechanism and Grievance Officer details].
10. Third-party services we use
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) — push notification delivery.
- Resend / freeresend — OTP emails for signup/login [PLACEHOLDER — confirm final provider].
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the App changes. We will update the “Last updated” date and make reasonable effort to notify users in-app of material changes.
